The Air Jordan 15 was released in 1999-2000. This was the first Jordan that Michael Jordan didn’t wear during a basketball game, due to the fact that he retired the year before. Many felt that because Michael Jordan retired from the game of basketball that the Jordan brand would not carry on with making Air Jordan Brand sneakers. The inspiration for the Air Jordan 15 came from the futuristic x-15 fighter jet development by NASA during the 1950s. The Air Jordan 15 featured an original woven upper and the tongue of the shoe stuck out parallel to the ground. The sneaker was also inspired by Italian designers. The Air Jordan 15 was designed by Tinker Hatfield. The Jordan 15 was the last shoe that Tinker Hatfield would design.
