After going through the full design and draft process Bobbito Garcia finally released his Pro Keds Royal Flash throwback basketball sneaker recently. Kool Bob Love then supported the drop of these fresh Oldskool kicks with a mini-tour of New York City’s best known Sneaker Shops.
Previously we got a look at all four vintage looking colorways and even got to see Bobbito himself talk about what these retro style basketball shoes mean to him and the thought process and attention to detail that went into making them… check out the video here.
Now we get a look at some detailed pics of his kicks.
What is significant about this release is that it’s the 30th Anniversary of the Royal Flash aka the Add-On that first dropped back in 1979.

Garcia was looking to express to this generation of hoopers and hip hop heads a lil knowledge about the part that Pro-Keds, Spanish Harlem aka El Barrio and the New York Puerto Rican Community contributed to the Streetball basketball scene back in the day and to this day and it looks like he’s pulled it off.
This buttery suede joint as you know drops in 4 colorways and from my vantage point the crazy colorways are: A) What gives this shoe such a solid OldSkool look and feel and B) Sets it apart from so many other sneakers on the marketplace right now.

On top of the impressive mustard, olive, maroon and dark orange colorways what makes this shoe stand out in a crowd are the various goldleaf details: ‘Bobbito’ and ‘Pa ‘Lante’ (Para Adelante: Move Forward) on the sidepanels, the sneak’s nickname ‘The Add-On’ on the heel and ‘El Barrio, NYC 1979” on the tongue.

Also there is a big shout out on the heel to the history of the Puerto Rican Basketball Community in NYC with ‘Baloncesto Boricua 1979′ on the heel and the shoe itself with the inner tongue covered with ‘Royal Flash aka The Add-On 30th Anniversary’.

Check out these detailed pics of the ‘Army Jackie Green’ colorway which is a subtle olive then I challenge you to decide which of these 4 colorways is your favorite. What most likely will end up happening is that you’ll have to pick up more than one pair and rotate regularly as each one of these 4 unusual yet savory flavors will end up being your favorite from week to week.
At the moment I’m leaning towards the Maroon yet last month Mustard was my fav flav and come to think of it this olive Jackie Green is pretty darn fresh as well.
